1. Harriet Tubman was born in 1820 in Maryland. No one knows the exact date because slave birth dates weren't documented.
2. Tubman escaped to freedom in 1849. She started the Underground Railroad to escape.
3. Tubman was a spy and a nurse in the Civil War.
4. Tubman's husband, John Tubman, left her because he did not want to risk leaving to freedom.
5. The Mason-Dixon line sperates the South form the North. Tubman had to cross this line to get to freedom.
6. The Underground Railroad is a secret path with people form the North that help slaves get to freedom.
7. If Tubman was cuaght the reward would be $12,000. Later it went up to $40,000. She never was cuaght once.
8. John Brown asked Tubman to help him battle the proslavery forces. Brown died with many others.
9. In order to get to freedom Tubman had to follow the North Star. That's how she found her way.
10. Tubman died on March 10th, 1913. She had never lost one slave on any of her trips.
